About Acorn

Acorn Early Learning Centre - A great place to grow

Catherine and Andrew Holden opened Acorn Early Learning Centre in May 2004 to provide quality childcare for the Auckland suburbs of St Heliers, Glendowie, Mission Bay, Kohimarama and Meadowbank.

Catherine is a qualified early childhood teacher and holds a Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education). She has worked in the early childhood field since 2000 and has a natural love of children, and a commitment to their education, care and development. Catherine is an integral part of the centre, sharing her ideas, passion and vision to create a wonderful learning environment.

Andrew has a business and management background and is a great support to the centre in his role of part-time centre chef. He is also undertakes the centre’s building and landscaping, ensuring the grounds and building are maintained to a high standard.

Andrew is great at putting into action the ideas and visions of Catherine and the team and has created many projects and developments of his own at the centre. The children also love being involved in Andrew’s many projects around the centre.

Acorn Early Learning Centre is licensed for 80 children and the children are cared for in our Tui Room (6 months to 2½ years) and our Kiwi Room (2½ – 5 years). Both rooms lead out to our wonderful back yard, which is filled with outdoor equipment, playground areas,  sandpits, garden and orchard.

We are open from 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. We offer two sessions: 8.30am – 3.30pm or 7.30am – 5.30pm.

We welcome you to come and visit us and see for yourselves the rich and supportive environment we have to offer.

Our programmes aim to be fun and exciting. More information on the programmes we offer is available on our programmes page.
