Privacy Policy

The Management of Acorn Early Learning Centre will ensure that they will comply with the Privacy Act 1993 and that all information relating to the children and staff will only be used for the purpose that it was collected.

Objective:

1. To ensure all staff are familiar with the Privacy Act 1993.
2. To promote and protect individuals privacy with regard to the collection, use and disclosure of information.
3. To ensure children's information is stored in a confidential secure manner.
4. To ensure confidentially for children and families attending the centre.
5. To ensure the information collected on all forms is used for the purpose that it has been collected.

Procedure:

1. The Privacy Officer is the Licensee.
2. All forms requesting information explains why you are collecting this information and who is collecting it. Information is to be collected only for a specific purpose.
3. All staff will have access to information relating to them
4. All parents/guardians will have access to information relating to their child.
5. Information is only collected from the parent or guardian of the child or the staff member to whom the information pertains.
6. Explain that parent/guardians approval will be sought prior to any information being shared with a third party or agency.
7. All forms that request information will have the name and address of the centre on them.
8. All requests for information on staff or children, which is held on file, must be referred to the Privacy Officer.
9. Ensure that all forms do not ask for information that is not required or intrudes into someones personal affairs.
10. Only accurate and up-to-date information is held on file. Staff may alter information on their own file and parents/guardians may up-date information on their child's file at any time
11. Parents are told that their child ' s enrolment form is held for 7 years as this is a requirement of the 1998 Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations.
